Jansen/Adjusters International’s Senior Vice President, Tim Woodard recently participated in a panel discussion focused on “New Tricks and Traps of Carriers and Their Experts” sponsored by the National Association of Public Adjusters (NAPIA). The event took place on Friday, June 23 during NAPIA’s 2017 Annual Meeting held at the La Cantera Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas.

This lively debate touched on little known “techniques” that are commonly used by some insurance carriers and how public adjusters can avoid and/or resolve them on behalf of the insured. Woodard, who served as the panel’s public adjuster representative, has adjusted numerous complex claims resulting in favorable settlements on behalf of policyholders throughout the United States. He is licensed as a Public Insurance Adjuster in 14 states and a member of NAPIA as well as the Texas Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (TAPIA).

Tim spoke along Matthew R. Pearson, Partner at Gravely & Pearson, LLP, who moderated the discussion.

“Because every claim is different, with altered circumstances and policy language, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. In other words, the path to claim resolution is neither well defined nor limited to just one possibility. Street smarts are required, and they must be honed from day one on the job if the adjuster is to succeed,” said Woodard during his presentation.

As a Texas-based public adjusting and disaster recovery firm, Jansen/AI has been actively involved with NAPIA for several years in both a volunteer, leadership and educational capacity. Founded in 1951, NAPIA is comprised of members throughout the United States who have joined together for the purpose of education, certification, marketing opportunities, legal and legislative representation, scholarship and research, and promotion of the public adjusting profession.
